Volunteer Open Evening
Radio Worthing is looking for volunteers to help us build a genuinely local radio service for Worthing and the surrounding area.
We’ll be holding a Volunteer Open Evening for people who would like to find out more about the station, meet the team and discover the different ways they can get involved.

More than just presenting
Running a community radio station involves far more than being behind a microphone.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who would like to help with areas including:
- Local news and journalism
- Interviews and community content
- Website and social media
- Photography and video
- Audio production
- Technical and engineering work
- Events and promotions
- Community engagement
- Advertising and sponsorship
- Business development
- Fundraising
- Finance and administration
- Programme production
- Presenting
You do not need previous radio experience. Skills and experience gained through work, volunteering, hobbies, community organisations or simply being involved in Worthing could all be valuable.
Who are we looking for?
We want to hear from people who are interested in Worthing, believe in the value of local community radio and would like to contribute some of their time and skills to making Radio Worthing work.
Some volunteers may already have specialist skills, while others may want to learn something completely new. What matters most is enthusiasm, reliability, a willingness to work as part of a team and an interest in contributing to the wider station and the community it serves.
Presenting opportunities are likely to be in high demand, and previous broadcasting experience alone will not guarantee an on-air role. Radio Worthing is a community-first station, so we will give priority to people and programme ideas that have a clear connection to Worthing and genuinely add something to the community we serve.
For many volunteers, getting involved in the wider life of the station and taking part in our community-facing activities will be the natural route towards presenting. However, we will also consider strong programme, feature or documentary ideas from the outset where they clearly fit our community-first approach.
Our aim is to create distinctive local radio rather than simply provide airtime. Programme ideas with a clear local purpose, subject, audience or community value are therefore much more likely to be considered than generic music-led shows.
