A280 Long Furlong remains closed until October 8 after further leak found

The A280 Long Furlong near Worthing is set to remain closed until October 8 after a further leak was found during emergency repairs to a burst water main.

The road has been closed between the Clapham junction and Findon roundabout since October 2. Southern Water said the burst main had now been repaired, but teams found a leaking air valve which required further work. The company said customers’ water supplies had not been affected and resident access remained available along the closed section.

Angmering Parish Council said the closure was expected to remain in place until October 8. Drivers using the route between the A27 at Clapham and Findon are advised to allow extra time and check travel updates before setting off.
