Adur and Worthing schoolchildren invited to name new food waste trucks

Adur & Worthing Councils are inviting local schoolchildren to suggest names for eight new food waste collection trucks that began operating last month. The competition gives children the chance to come up with creative or humorous names for the vehicles.

The councils have contacted primary schools across Adur and Worthing to encourage entries. A judging panel will select eight winning names, which will be displayed on the trucks, along with runners-up for two additional vehicles due to join the fleet. Winners will also have their photographs taken with the trucks at a special presentation day.

Councillor Andrew Harvey, Adur’s cabinet member for environment, welcomed the competition, while Councillor Martin McCabe, Worthing’s cabinet member for environment, said he expected imaginative suggestions from children. Entries must be submitted by Monday 9 November using the online competition form. Further information about weekly food waste collections is available on the councils’ website.
