Murder investigation continues after man’s death in Tarring

Police remain in Tarring after the death of a man sparked a murder investigation, with detectives confirming no arrests have yet been made.

Emergency services were called to a property in Lindum Road on Wednesday afternoon, where a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evidence gathering continued overnight at the address, although the armed police guard was stepped down by Thursday morning in time for the first school run at nearby Thomas A Beckett Infant School.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Friday said: “Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate what we believe to be an isolated incident. This is currently being treated as a murder investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.”

Local residents have expressed concern on social media about the lack of arrests, with many commenting on the heavy police presence around the scene.

St Andrew’s Church in West Tarring announced it would be opening earlier today, offering space for quiet reflection following what it described as “the tragic loss of a life in our community yesterday.”
