Arrest after woman raped in alleyway near Worthing shopping centre

A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in an alleyway next to a shopping centre in Worthing.

Sussex Police said the attack happened between 03:00 and 04:00 BST on Saturday in an area between Chatsworth Road and the Guildbourne Centre.

A 42-year-old man from Worthing has been arrested and remains in police custody. Officers have urged anyone with information or footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said police will maintain a presence in the area while enquiries continue. He added that the victim is being supported by specially trained officers.
