Bingo licence sought for former card shop

A casino operator has applied for a bingo premises licence for a former card shop on Montague Street in Worthing, following previous approval for change of use.
Maidstone-based Slots Trading Ltd submitted a licensing application to Worthing Borough Council for 82-84 Montague Street, previously occupied by Card Factory. The unit, now named Wilson’s Casino, has been vacant since June 2024 when Card Factory relocated to another unit nearby. Slots Trading has already secured planning permission to turn the site into an amusement arcade featuring bingo and gaming machines.
The company’s planning documents describe the proposed bingo arcade as a town-centre use aligned with retail environments. No external alterations to the building are currently planned, and the facility is expected to employ the equivalent of eight full-time staff. Residents and businesses with concerns about the application can submit written representations to the council by 26 August.
