Brighton to Worthing rail works cancelled as normal services resume

Planned railway engineering works between Brighton and Worthing have been cancelled, meaning train services will now operate as normal throughout the week.

Southern Rail confirmed that the works, which had been scheduled to take place from Monday January 5 until Friday January 9, will no longer go ahead.

The cancelled works were due to affect services along the south coast, including trains running between London Victoria and Worthing, as well as routes linking Brighton with Portsmouth Harbour and West Worthing. The engineering programme had been planned to continue until 11.59pm on January 9.

Southern Rail said journey information has already been updated to reflect the change, with the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner now showing normal timetables. Passengers travelling on the affected routes are advised they can plan their journeys as usual, without the need for rail replacement buses or extended journey times.
