Business secretary visits Worthing to back council regeneration plans

Business Secretary Peter Kyle has visited Worthing to show support for the borough council’s plans to invest in the town and improve its future prospects.
Mr Kyle joined local Labour MPs, councillors and supporters on the seafront on March 30, where he spoke about the impact of recent investment and regeneration efforts. He said the combination of local and national government working together had led to visible improvements, highlighting funding initiatives and ongoing projects aimed at strengthening communities and supporting economic growth.
During the visit, Mr Kyle outlined government measures to support businesses and high streets, including reforms to business rates and investment through national funding programmes. Local representatives, including Worthing West MP Beccy Cooper and East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tom Rutland, pointed to projects such as Montague Gardens, the restoration of Worthing Lido and improvements to flood defences as examples of progress, while council leader Sophie Cox said efforts remained focused on cost of living support and protecting key local assets.
