Businesses Working to Upgrade Worthing Lido

Local businesses are coming together with the Worthing Lido Community Group to deliver a series of improvements to the town’s much-loved Lido over the coming weeks.

The Worthing Lido Community Group has been working with local contractors and partners to identify practical improvements that can make an immediate difference to the appearance of the building, while work continues on a longer-term vision for its future. The first phase of works will focus on some of the Lido’s most visible features.

Local Sussex business Regency Ironworks has agreed to restore and refresh the tired and rusted gates, helping to improve both their appearance and condition.

Peter Signs, based in Worthing, is supporting the project with a refresh to the painted signage above the entrance. Alongside these projects, the Council has also agreed to work with local contractor Blue Building on painting and improvement works at the Lido.

The projects have been instigated by the Worthing Lido Community Group while a longer-term plan for the Lido is developed.

Dr Beccy Cooper, MP for Worthing West and Chair of the Worthing Lido Community Group Board, said: “I’m delighted that local businesses are getting behind the Worthing Lido Community Group and helping us make some immediate, practical improvements to this important part of our seafront.

“The Lido is a much-loved heritage building and these works are about giving it the care and attention it deserves while we work on the bigger picture.

“We want the Lido to become a real jewel on Worthing’s seafront, and this is an important first step.

“The shops at the Lido, including the cafe, remain open and I encourage you to keep supporting them while the work is being done.”
