Care for Veterans carol concert raises nearly £8000 for charity

Care for Veterans has thanked supporters after its annual carol concert raised nearly £8000 to support the charity’s work with veterans and their families.

The event was held at Lancing College Chapel on Sunday December 14 and brought together members of the local community for an afternoon of festive music and reflection.

Guests were welcomed with an opening prayer from the charity’s chaplain, the Reverend George Butler, before a programme of carols and seasonal performances. Worthing-based Sussex Gruffs Male Voice Choir and Rustington-based Inspirations Community Choir, directed by Lucy Goldberg, performed during the concert, filling the chapel with choral music.

Speakers included Andy Cole, chief executive of Royal Star and Garter, who said the concert showed strong community support for veterans, and Pete Boylan, who spoke about his son’s journey following Army service. All proceeds from the event will go towards providing nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life support for veterans living with disabilities, including brain injury and neurological conditions.
