Cat Dies After Being Shot With Arrow In Worthing

A cat has died after being shot with an arrow in Worthing, with Sussex Police investigating the incident.
The cat, named Beau, returned home at around 5.30am on Sunday, June 7, near West Worthing railway station with an arrow through his stomach. A vet believed the weapon may have been a crossbow or another dangerous hunting weapon.
Owner Lucy said Beau was taken to a vet immediately and underwent surgery. Despite treatment, his condition deteriorated and he was put down on Monday, June 8. The family reported the incident to police on the morning it happened.
Sussex Police said officers have been carrying out enquiries, including collecting CCTV and speaking to potential witnesses. Sergeant David Hedgecock appealed for information from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in Ripley Road, The Drive, Tarring Road or nearby areas. Lucy has also launched a crowdfunding appeal to help cover veterinary costs, which had raised more than £1,100 at the time of publication.
