Christmas and New Year bin collection changes announced for Worthing residents

Bin collection schedules in Worthing will change over Christmas and New Year as council waste and recycling teams take a break on key public holidays.

Adur and Worthing Councils confirmed there would be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day, meaning most residents will see alterations to their usual collection dates.

Residents are being encouraged to check how the changes affect their address by using the council’s online bin day checker or downloading the council services app, which provides updated collection information and reminders. People are also asked to ensure bins are placed out by 6am on revised collection days.

The council has advised households to crush recyclable items to create more space in blue-top bins and to place any excess dry cardboard beside bins on collection day, as wet cardboard cannot be recycled. Collections of real Christmas trees will also take place again, with further details expected in the New Year.
