Connaught Cinema in Worthing to Close During Extreme Heat Warning

The Connaught Cinema in Worthing has announced it will close on June 25 because of forecast extreme temperatures and a red weather warning, citing the safety of staff and customers as the reason for the temporary closure.
The closure comes as parts of England and Wales experience exceptionally hot and humid conditions. The Met Office has issued a rare red warning for extreme heat, while the wider heatwave has been linked to health warnings, school closures and transport disruption. The conditions have been attributed to a heat dome affecting western Europe.
The cinema said customers with bookings will be contacted by the box office team. A scheduled screening of Les Liaisons Dangereuses has been postponed, with replacement screenings available on July 4 and an additional showing on July 8.
The announcement came as provisional temperatures reached 36.1 degrees Celsius, setting a new record for the hottest June day recorded in the UK. Temperatures measured at Worthing pier reached a midday peak of 32 degrees celsius.
