Dispersal order issued in West Worthing following anti-social behaviour concerns

Police have introduced a dispersal order covering parts of West Worthing and Durrington following ongoing concerns about anti-social behaviour.

The Section 34 order came into effect at 2.30pm today (Thursday 25 September) and will remain in place for 48 hours. It gives officers powers to move on individuals causing anti-social behaviour within a defined area, or arrest them if they refuse to comply.

The zone covered by the order is centred on Worthing Leisure Centre and Field Place. Boundaries extend from Bruce Avenue in the east to Strand Junction and Limbrick Lane in the west, and from Palatine Road and Terringes Avenue in the north, including the ASDA service station, to Marlborough Road and Robson Road in the south.

Sussex Police said there will be an increased presence in the area during the order. Residents are encouraged to raise concerns directly with officers or report crime by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency.
