Dog restrictions now being actively enforced across Adur and Worthing

Dog exclusion zones and dogs-on-lead areas are now being actively enforced across Adur and Worthing by National Enforcement Solutions officers working on behalf of the councils.

The restrictions include dog exclusion zones in children’s play areas and parts of Worthing and Goring beaches during the summer months, as well as dogs-on-lead areas in a number of parks. Adur and Worthing Councils said most of the restrictions have been in place for more than a decade, but residents and visitors may now notice a greater enforcement presence.

NES officers can issue £100 Fixed Penalty Notices for failing to comply with the restrictions and will also tackle littering and failure to pick up after dogs.

The councils said serious or persistent breaches may result in prosecution, a fine of up to £1,000 and a criminal record. Officers wear uniforms featuring the councils’ logo, carry ID badges and use body-worn cameras when interacting with the public.
