Dolphins spotted hunting close to Goring Beach

A bottlenose dolphin has been filmed just 20 metres off the coast of Goring Beach, displaying behaviour consistent with hunting, according to a local marine research group.

The sighting is one of several reported in recent weeks along the Worthing and Goring coastline.

The footage, taken by resident Claire Brindley at high tide, was shared by the Sussex Dolphin Project, which studies local marine life. The organisation described it as part of a “spate of dolphin sightings” in the area and encouraged the public to continue reporting similar activity along the Sussex coast.

The Sussex Dolphin Project previously reported an unusual rise in winter humpback whale sightings in the region, noting over 45 between January and March. Project director Thea Taylor said it could be a sign of whales revisiting past feeding areas, while the recent dolphin activity highlights the importance of ongoing local marine observation.
