Durrington High School marks 50 years of Christmas hamper charity

Durrington High School has marked the 50th anniversary of its Christmas Hamper charity initiative, which has provided festive support to people in need across the local community for five decades. The school said the project has become a long-standing tradition, supported by staff, students, families and local donors.
Over the years, the appeal has collected food and essential items to create Christmas hampers for families, alongside Santa’s Stockings filled with books, games and toys. This year’s donations will be distributed to local primary schools to support children from less fortunate backgrounds.
The school paid tribute to former assistant headteacher Mr Woods, who originally established the initiative, and praised students for their efforts in decorating hampers and contributing donations. Staff said they were proud to continue the tradition and thanked everyone involved for helping sustain the appeal into its 50th year.
