Emergency services respond to late night incident at Worthing Pier

Emergency services including the RNLI were called to Worthing Pier late on Saturday night following concerns for two teenagers attempting to enter the sea during severe weather conditions.
Shoreham RNLI launched its all-weather lifeboat after reports that two people had tried to access the water from the pier in gale force winds.
The lifeboat crew was stood down while en route after it was confirmed the individuals had already been located and were in the care of other emergency services.
Police officers attended alongside the Coastguard and engaged with the pair at the scene.
Sussex Police said the teenagers were taken to a place of safety. A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of breaching a Community Protection Notice, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
