Fire crews tackle large field blaze in Patching

Firefighters remain at the scene of a large field fire in Arundel Road, Patching, after being called at 2.08pm on Wednesday. West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines and four off-road vehicles were sent to the incident, where crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control.
The fire service said crews were continuing to damp down and turn over the affected area during the afternoon. Members of the public were advised to avoid the area, while nearby residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed.
It has been reported that Arundel Road was closed in both directions between the A280 Angmering and Clapham junction and Selden Lane because of the fire, although traffic was coping well. Multiple fire crews remain on-site tackling the blaze.
