Fishermen Rescued After Boat Sinks Off Shoreham

Two fishermen were pulled from the sea early Saturday morning after their boat sank three miles south of Shoreham-by-Sea.
The RNLI crew from Shoreham responded to the emergency after the men managed to alert the coastguard and put on their lifejackets just before their 17ft fishing vessel went down.
The rescue happened quickly, with the vessel reportedly sinking within minutes of the distress call. The men, who have not both been named, said they were thrown into the water but were relieved to see the RNLI lifeboat arrive soon after. One of the fishermen, identified as Robert, said they both had children and acknowledged the situation could have ended very differently without the prompt response.
Both men expressed their gratitude to the rescue teams, thanking the RNLI for their actions. No injuries were reported. The RNLI continues to advise all sea-goers to ensure they carry lifejackets and emergency communication devices while out on the water.
