Funding awarded to community projects across Worthing and Adur

Community groups in Worthing and Adur have been awarded a share of £60,000 in funding aimed at strengthening local connections, improving accessibility and supporting residents.
The funding has been distributed through the councils’ new Thriving Together grant programme, which received nearly 50 applications from organisations across the area.
Five projects have been selected, each receiving between £10,000 and £15,000, with a focus on collaboration, skills development and long-term community support.
Successful initiatives include a joint project by Adur Voluntary Action and Community Works to strengthen the voluntary sector, training programmes from Sight Support Worthing to improve accessibility for visually impaired people, and funding for Worthing Festival to expand inclusive activities.
Additional grants will support youth charity Esteem in delivering confidence-building programmes for young people, and Community People in engaging residents through its It’s On Your Doorstep project.
Councillors said the scheme is designed to encourage organisations to work together to address shared challenges and reduce isolation, while building lasting networks. Residents will be able to follow the progress of the funded projects through updates published by the councils.
