Goring Road post office to become pizza takeaway

Plans to convert a former post office on Goring Road in Worthing into a hot food takeaway and pizza shop have been approved by the council. The unit at number 292 has been empty since March 2025 and sits at the end of a parade of shops including a fitness centre, café and pet store.
The approved scheme includes installing an electric oven on a central island within the shop floor, along with customer seating. The development is expected to create four new jobs once the business opens.
Some residents raised concerns about potential litter, noise and cooking odours, as well as the number of food outlets in the area. Worthing Borough Council said the change of use would not lead to an over-concentration of takeaways, and conditions will require sound insulation and an exhaust system, with closing time set at 11pm to limit disturbance.
