Guildbourne Centre in Worthing sold at auction for £1.62 million

The Guildbourne Centre in Worthing has been sold at auction for £1,620,000 after going under the hammer on Tuesday (July 14). The shopping centre had been listed with a guide price of £1.5 million.

The property, marketed by Savills, comprises the shopping centre, a six-storey office building and residential accommodation that had already been sold off. The Guildbourne Centre is Worthing’s only indoor shopping centre and includes around 20 ground-floor retail units arranged around an enclosed mall. It was described as one of the town’s principal retail and office complexes by scale. Current leaseholders include B&M Retail and Pembroke Financial Services, and there is no indication that the sale will affect any existing leases.

A six-storey office block sits above the retail accommodation with its own independent access. The office block was previously let to a single major occupier and is considered suitable for refurbishment or reconfiguration. The listing stated that the property extends to more than 130,000 square feet, generates an annual rental income of £738,365 and includes 33,912 square feet of vacant space.
