Homefield Primary in Worthing awarded £8.6 million for single-site development

West Sussex County Council has approved more than £8.6 million to redevelop Homefield Primary School in Worthing, allowing it to operate entirely from its Chesswood Road site.

The funding will provide new classrooms and facilities, including a dedicated support centre for 21 children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Homefield Primary School was created in September 2024 following the merger of Lyndhurst Infant and Chesswood Junior schools but has continued to operate across both locations.

The project will be funded from the council’s Basic Need and SEND Capital budgets, with work expected to finish by September 2027. Once complete, the Lyndhurst Road site will no longer be required for mainstream education. The council is currently exploring options for its potential future use, including additional SEND provision.
