Katy Bourne Re-Elected as Sussex Police Commissioner in 2024 Election

Conservative Katy Bourne has been successfully re-elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Sussex, marking her fourth term since the role’s inception in 2012.

Bourne was contested by three other candidates and emerged victorious with 39% of the total votes, a clear majority of 22,993 votes over her nearest competitor.

The election count, held at the Brighton Centre, saw Bourne receiving 122,495 votes, while her main opposition, Labour’s Paul Richards, garnered 99,502 votes. Other candidates included Jamie Bennett from the Liberal Democrats with 48,923 votes and Jonathan Kent representing the Green Party, who received 43,105 votes. The voter turnout was reported at 24.2%.

Bourne’s victory speech focussed on her commitment to continue addressing key community concerns such as violence against women and girls, road safety, and the security of rural areas.
