Labour Holds Buckingham Ward in Shoreham By-Election

Labour has retained control of the Buckingham Ward seat in Shoreham following a by-election triggered by the death of sitting councillor Nigel Jenner.
Kate Davis secured the seat for the party with 609 votes, maintaining Labour’s position on Adur District Council.
The by-election, held on Thursday, saw a voter turnout of 45.4%. Kate Davis beat her closest rival, Reform UK candidate Mike Mendoza, who received 311 votes. Conservative candidate Leila Williams followed with 301 votes, while the Liberal Democrats’ Ian Jones polled 153 votes. David Bamber, standing for Britain First under the ‘Housing For Locals’ banner, received 22 votes. Three ballots were rejected as invalid.
With the outcome confirmed, the political composition of Adur District Council now stands at 17 Labour councillors, 7 Conservatives, two Greens and three Independents.
