Lancing Ring Dew Pond to Be Restored Following Funding Boost

Adur District Council has secured approximately £18,800 in funding from the South Downs National Park Authority to restore the dew pond at Lancing Ring. The funding comes from the £1 million Pounds for Ponds initiative led by the South Downs National Park Trust and conservation charity Froglife.

The council said the dew pond has dried out during most summers in recent years and the restoration work is intended to help prevent that from happening in future, providing wildlife with a more reliable water source on the South Downs.

Lancing Ring, a 46.85-acre nature reserve just north of Lancing within the South Downs National Park, is managed by Adur District Council and The Friends of Lancing Ring. The council also plans to build a separate smaller pond for dogs to use, helping to reduce disturbance to wildlife and prevent spot-on flea treatments from entering the restored dew pond.
