Man arrested after armed police response in Worthing

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of three offences following an incident that prompted an armed police response in Worthing.

Police received a report that a woman had been threatened and her car damaged with objects in Clifton Road at about 5pm on July 11. Men reportedly left the area in another vehicle, which was identified and stopped by armed officers in Woodside Road.

The man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and criminal damage. He remained in custody while officers carried out further enquiries, and witnesses or anyone with relevant footage were asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 quoting reference 1063 of 11/07.
