Man Charged with Arson After Worthing Flat Fire

A man has been charged with arson following a fire at a flat in Worthing which prompted a multi-agency emergency response.
Emergency services were called to Mill Road, Worthing, at around 1.10pm on Tuesday (9 September) after reports of a fire. Firefighters, police officers and paramedics attended the scene. One person was assessed by ambulance crews and discharged at the scene.
Sussex Police confirmed that 50-year-old Clinton McNamara, of Mill Road, Worthing, was arrested on suspicion of arson and later charged. He was remanded in custody to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (10 September).
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said three fire engines were sent to the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using a hose reel, and crews left the scene by 2pm.
