Man remanded after court appearance over Worthing death

A man accused of killing his brother in Worthing has been remanded in custody after appearing in court, with no plea yet entered in the case.

Police arrested 22-year-old Taylor Mitten on 5 September on suspicion of murdering his brother, 25-year-old Jack Mitten, who was found dead at a property in Lindum Road, Tarring. Mitten was subsequently charged and first appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody.

Mitten later appeared at Hove Crown Court, where he did not enter a plea and the case was adjourned until November. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, he attended a mention hearing at Lewes Crown Court on 14 November, where no plea was indicated and he was again remanded.

A further mention hearing has been scheduled for 17 December at Lewes Crown Court, with Mitten remaining in custody until that appearance.
