Motorcyclist detained after dangerous riding incident in Worthing

A 21-year-old man was detained by police after officers witnessed dangerous motorcycle riding in Poulters Lane, Worthing.

Sussex Police said the incident happened at about 7.50pm on Monday, May 18, when officers on patrol saw a rider pulling wheelies on a public road.

Police said officers made tactical contact with the rider to prevent a pursuit and ensure the safety of both the motorcyclist and the public. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The rider initially fled on foot but was detained after a short chase. Sussex Police said the 21-year-old man from Sompting will be dealt with for driving offences. Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to contact police quoting serial 1254 of 18/05.
