Motorcyclists in Adur to face new parking charges from June 2025

Motorcyclists will be required to pay for parking in Adur from 6 June 2025, following changes to the district’s off-street parking regulations.

Adur District Council approved an amendment to its parking order on 8 May, removing the previous exemption for motorcycles and mandating payment in designated off-street car parks.

The change modifies Article 30 of the existing order and eliminates the waiver outlined in Article 46(iii). The council says the update aims to improve the management and fair use of parking spaces throughout the district. Detailed documentation regarding the amendment is available at the Town Hall in Worthing and on the council’s website.

Residents or motorcyclists who believe the order exceeds legal authority or was improperly implemented have six weeks from 8 May to challenge it via the High Court. The order was formally issued by Joanne Lee, solicitor to the council, acting on behalf of Adur District Council.
