Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Worthing

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Worthing.
Sussex Police said officers were called to an address in Durrington Lane, Durrington, at about 7.50pm on Thursday, May 14, following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Emergency services attended the scene, where a 65-year-old woman was pronounced dead.
A 37-year-old man from Durrington has been arrested on suspicion of murder and assaulting a police officer. He remained in custody on Friday morning.
Police confirmed that the victim and suspect were known to each other.
Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama, from the major crime team, described the incident as tragic. She said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s loved ones at this difficult time. We are in the early stages of a fast-moving investigation, and officers are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“While we understand this incident will cause concern locally, we believe it to be isolated, with no threat to the wider community, and we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
