New comedy venue planned for Worthing town centre

A new comedy venue is set to open in Worthing town centre after an application was submitted for a premises licence at Global House in Portland Square. The Comedy Rooms plans to bring regular live comedy shows to the location, expanding its presence in the town.

Worthing Borough Council granted planning permission in November to change the use of first-floor offices at Global House to allow them to operate as a live comedy and entertainment venue. The building was previously occupied by WMC Legal LLP, which vacated the premises in September.

The licence application seeks permission to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises, with proposed opening and alcohol sale hours running into the evening throughout the week. The Comedy Rooms already hosts events at other Worthing locations, including the Guildbourne Centre, and the consultation on the application is open until mid January, with a committee hearing scheduled in February if required.
