New Disabled Bays and Parking Changes Proposed for Worthing Town Centre

New disabled parking bays are set to be introduced in Worthing town centre as part of proposed changes to parking restrictions by West Sussex County Council.

The council has published details of a permanent Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) that would alter parking arrangements in the town’s Controlled Parking Zone. Under the plans, Blue Badge bays would be added in Cranworth Road, Liverpool Road, Orme Road, Rowlands Road, St George’s Road and Warwick Gardens. Bays in Dawes Avenue, Southcourt Road and Tarring Road that are no longer required would be removed.

Other changes include amending loading bay rules in Ann Street and Liverpool Road to allow use by any vehicle, and adjusting Pay & Display restrictions in Christchurch Road, Marine Parade, Shelley Road and Wyke Avenue to permit parking for permit holders. New waiting restrictions are proposed in Bank Passage, Liverpool Road, Marine Parade and South Farm Road, while a new Pay & Display bay would be installed in Augusta Place.

Additional measures would see Fairlawn Drive added to Zone N with limited-hour permit restrictions, the removal of a single yellow line in Station Road, and the shortening of double yellow lines in Ham Road. Full proposal details and a response form are available on the WSCC website, with comments or objections accepted until 28 August.
