New on-street parking charges announced for Worthing

Changes to on-street parking charges in Worthing will come into effect on 1 October, with West Sussex County Council confirming increases across pay-and-display rates and resident permits.
The council said the adjustments, announced on 4 September, are intended to make parking fairer, more consistent and better aligned with local needs. Pay-and-display prices are rising by 20p across all areas, with premium rates moving from £1.80 to £2 per hour, standard rates from £1.70 to £1.90, and outer rates from £1 to £1.20 per hour.
Resident permits are also increasing. In all-day zones A, B and C, a 12-month permit will rise from £58 to £63, while a six-month permit increases from £31 to £34. For part-day zones D to N, the 12-month permit goes from £30 to £35, and the six-month from £16 to £19. Fees for subsequent permits, non-resident, doctors’ and visitor permits are also going up.
The changes follow a comprehensive review supporting the county’s Integrated Parking Strategy. The council said the aim is to improve access, reduce congestion and encourage sustainable travel, while ensuring charges remain in line with recent off-street parking updates by local district and borough councils.
