New weekly food waste collections to begin across Adur and Worthing

Adur and Worthing Councils are delivering new food waste caddies and bins to households ahead of the introduction of weekly food waste recycling collections, which will begin with a phased roll-out from September.

Residents will receive a grey indoor caddy for use in the kitchen and a lockable outdoor caddy with an orange lid, which should be placed alongside waste or recycling bins on collection day. Flats will receive one indoor caddy per property, while communal food waste bins will be added to bin stores. Households will be told their individual start date when their caddies are delivered.

Some residents have raised concerns that the new food waste bins could attract rats, foxes and flies, particularly following the recent period of intense hot weather in Worthing.
