Olympic champion Robin Cousins judges Ferring scarecrow festival

Olympic gold medallist Robin Cousins has visited Ferring to judge the village’s annual scarecrow festival, which features 92 entries displayed around the community.

The Ferring Scarecrow Festival 2025 launched on Saturday, 25 October, and will run until Sunday, 2 November. Maps guiding visitors to the scarecrows are being sold for £2 at The Orange Tree, the event sponsor. Participants can collect letters from each scarecrow to discover secret words and be in with a chance of winning a prize.

All proceeds from the festival will support Ferring Men in Sheds, a group focused on promoting friendship, skill-sharing and wellbeing among men in the area. The fundraising will help the group expand and build its own workshop, enabling more people to join.
