Pastor Robert Guanco named as man who died at Big Church Festival

The man killed at a Christian festival in West Sussex on Friday has been named by his church as Robert Guanco, 41.

Mr Guanco was a pastor at Jesus the Living Water Church in Eastbourne, East Sussex. His church described him as a “faithful servant of God” and a “loving husband” and “devoted and caring father.”

Six other people were injured at the Big Church Festival near Steyning when a sign fell. Four of those injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

The festival, which takes place at Wiston Park, was scheduled to run until Sunday. However, organisers made the decision to cancel the remainder of the event following the incident.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, said she was “sad and shocked” to hear of the fatal incident and offered prayers for the family, those receiving treatment, and the festival staff and organisers.
