Paul Brewer recommended as next Chief Executive of Adur and Worthing Councils

Experienced local government director Paul Brewer has been selected as the recommended candidate to be the next chief executive of Adur and Worthing Councils.

The decision was made by the councils’ Joint Senior Staff Committee, a cross-party panel of senior councillors, following an extensive interview process.

The recommendation will go before Worthing Borough Council on 21st October and Adur District Council on 23rd October for ratification. If both councils approve the appointment, Mr Brewer will formally take up the position of chief executive and head of the paid service later in the month.

Mr Brewer, who joined Adur and Worthing Councils as a director in 2014, has more than 20 years of experience in local government, focusing on digital innovation, sustainability and partnership working. He has served as interim chief executive since July 2025, leading efforts to modernise services, strengthen finances and support community development.
