Plans revealed for 116 homes on Angmering site

Plans for a new housing development of 116 homes in Angmering have been unveiled, despite a similar proposal for the site being refused in recent years.
Developer Persimmon Homes has put forward proposals for land at Ham Manor, north of New Road, which would include a mix of private, shared ownership and affordable rental homes. The scheme also outlines that around 70 per cent of the site would remain as green space, alongside publicly accessible open areas and a six month local homes guarantee aimed at prioritising buyers from the area.
The plans follow the rejection of a 133 home development on the same land by Arun District Council in 2023, which drew nearly 250 objections. Councillors previously said the site lay outside the built up area in open countryside and within a settlement gap between Angmering and nearby communities, raising concerns about its impact on the character of the area. A formal planning application for the latest proposal has not yet been submitted, with a public consultation open until March 27.
The proposal is one of several housing developments in and around Angmering in recent years. Plans for 190 homes west of Bewley Road were approved on appeal in December, while a separate 167 home scheme at Rustington Golf Centre was also allowed following an appeal decision in 2022.
