Plans submitted to combine Worthing town centre shops and create flats

Plans to combine two shops in Worthing town centre and create nine residential units above them have been submitted to planners.

ECE Planning Limited has lodged the application on behalf of Cayuga 013 LLP for alterations at The Montague Quarter. The proposal would combine the current TK Maxx site with the former Precious Little Things unit to create a larger retail space, while converting first-floor retail storage space into nine flats.

The plans include five one-bedroom flats and four two-bedroom flats, along with changes at ground-floor level to provide access and additional first-floor windows.

Eightfold Property, which manages the shopping centre, said the changes would improve the long-term viability of the commercial space and help attract new retail, restaurant or leisure operators. Precious Little Things closed in 2023 and TK Maxx is due to surrender its lease when it expires in December 2026.
