“Police appeal after man seriously injured in Worthing town centre assault”

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 62-year-old man was seriously injured in an assault in Worthing town centre last month.

The incident took place in Liverpool Gardens between 5pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, 12 July, near the entrance to McDonald’s. The victim, a local man, was reportedly struck by another man, resulting in a serious injury. However, he did not attend hospital.

A 63-year-old man from the area was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail while enquiries continue. Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have relevant footage to contact Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1247 of 12/07.
