Police clear unauthorised encampment from Victoria Park in Worthing

Sussex Police have removed an unauthorised encampment from Victoria Park in Worthing after issuing a Section 60c notice on Saturday morning.
The group had moved to Victoria Park after being told to leave Manor Sports Ground in Broadwater, home to Worthing Cricket Club, on Friday, 2 May. Police used their powers under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to move the group from the new location the following day.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police confirmed the action was taken after liaising with the local authority and engaging with the group. The Section 60c notice issued required the immediate departure of the caravans. Officers thanked the public for their patience during the operation.
No incidents or arrests were reported during the removal, and the park has since returned to normal use.
