Police investigate reported rape in Worthing car park

Police have launched an investigation after a woman reported being raped in a car park in Worthing on the evening of 11 March.

Officers were called following the report of an incident involving a woman in her 20s at Lyndhurst Road Car Park at around 8pm. Sussex Police said there will be a visible police presence at the location overnight and into the morning while enquiries continue.

Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera said the investigation is at an early stage and confirmed the victim is receiving support from specialist officers. Detectives are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify and locate a suspect and have asked anyone with information to contact police online or via 101 quoting Operation Blyth.
