Police Recover Sharp Items During Knife Sweeps in Worthing Parks

Police have recovered a small number of sharp items hidden in several Worthing park areas during a series of knife sweeps carried out as part of a national week of action.
Officers from Adur and Worthing Police took part in Operation Sceptre in mid November, delivering knife-crime awareness sessions in schools and public spaces alongside foot and vehicle patrols. Knife sweeps were completed in Steyne Gardens, Victoria Park, Homefield Park and Amelia Park, where the items were found concealed. Police said the discoveries reflect proactive work rather than an indication that the areas are unsafe.
The force said regular sweeps are an important part of efforts to prevent harm, safeguard young people and keep parks safe. Officers engaged with residents during the activity and encouraged the public to report anything concerning found in public spaces so action can be taken quickly.
