Man Arrested Following Reported Bladed Weapon Incident In Lancing Asda

A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place following an incident at Asda in South Street, Lancing.

Police were called at about 9.50am on Thursday June 4 following reports of a man with a bladed weapon inside the supermarket. No injuries were reported.

Officers carried out a search and located the suspect in London Road, Shoreham, where he was safely arrested. Police confirmed that the incident prompted a significant response as officers worked to locate the man.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Harbour said police recognised the concern the incident would have caused within the community. He said officers worked extensively to detain the suspect and ensure public safety, adding that police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident and thanking members of the public for their assistance.
