Polling card misprint reported ahead of Worthing local elections

Residents in Worthing have been told that a misprint on polling cards issued for the upcoming local elections will not affect the voting process.
Worthing Council said the error involved the Worthing Borough Council ward names and West Sussex County Council division names being printed the wrong way round. The authority confirmed it had consulted the Electoral Commission, which advised that the mistake would not impact the elections scheduled for Thursday 7 May.
The council said the issue arose after printers incorrectly transposed the election area names and that the error was not identified before distribution.
Officials have apologised for any confusion caused and reminded residents of key deadlines:
Register to vote by 11.59pm on Monday 20 April
Apply for a postal vote by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April,
Request Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April for those without valid photo identification.
