Public asked for views on dog restrictions in Worthing and Shoreham

Residents and visitors are being invited to comment on proposals to extend and expand dog-related Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) across Worthing and Shoreham.

Adur and Worthing Councils are consulting on plans to renew existing PSPOs covering dog fouling, lead requirements, and exclusion zones until December 2028. These powers allow council officers to issue £100 fines or prosecute individuals who breach the rules, helping to manage nuisance caused by dogs in public spaces.

As part of the proposed updates, two new dog exclusion zones are suggested at play areas in Lilac Way, Shoreham, and Freesia Way, Worthing. Feedback is also sought on proposals to designate footpaths beside the Adur Estuary in Shoreham as dogs-on-leads areas and to exclude dogs from Heene Cemetery in Worthing. The public consultation remains open until midnight on Sunday 10th August 2025.
