Shoreham pub launches Christmas fundraiser in memory of Worthing teenager

A Shoreham pub is preparing a major Christmas fundraising campaign in memory of a Worthing teenager who died from a brain tumour, with proceeds going to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
The Longshore will launch its ‘Light Up Longshore’ night on 13 November, featuring Christmas market stalls, live performances from The Sleigh Belles and special guests, alongside a festive lights switch-on. Funds raised will support the hospice that cared for 18-year-old Millie Stoner, who passed away in October 2023.
Millie was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in March 2022 and underwent extensive treatment, including surgeries, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. She was declared cancer-free in July 2023 but the illness returned aggressively later that year, and she died just weeks after the recurrence was discovered.
Friends and family have since raised thousands of pounds in her memory, with last year’s campaign at The Longshore contributing more than £3,500. Pub manager Karen Dawson, who was recognised nationally for her community work in 2024, said the event will once again bring the community together to celebrate Millie’s life while supporting the hospice’s vital work.
